Save as type: QuickTime7

rstrong wrote on 3/22/2011, 9:01 PM
No matter what settings I choose for a Quicktime file, as soon as I hit 'Save', the finish window appears, but no rendering actually takes place. Is there a problem that QT and SVP are not working together as they should? I do have the latest QT, with the Pro key activated. How can I find out if there is a problem?

Update: I just tried to render with the QT setting in another software (ProShowProducer), and it crashes to the desktop.

thanks,
robert

Thanks for repling,

SVP 10.0c 64bit
QT 7.6.9, Pro

Render settings:

Save as type= Quicktime7 (.mov)

Template = Default template(uncompressed) or, 3mbs video.
Custom tab = NTSC DV 720x480, 29.970, upper field.
Video format = tried many settings.

What render settings would I start with, there are so many options?

"What render settings would I start with, there are so many options?"

That depends what you want to do with the file.

Am I saying this properly? I need to render to an NTSC 4x3 Quicktime .mov file, 4 mbs or greater, 720x480, 29.970 fps, upper field.
Is that what you are asking? That is what my client wants delivered. The source material is 30 secs. of digital stills.

thanks,
robert

I just rendered a file to these settings in Vegas Pro 10.0c:

No problems and it came out at 24.4 Mbps.

If you have more trouble, uninstall Quicktime and install this version. That's the version we need to use in Vegas Pro 8 and earlier. Apparently the latest version of Quicktime is OK in 10.0 but maybe something got broken.

Oh great, now I have a template called "rstrong (*)" that has turned itself into a built-in template and can't be deleted. Anyone know how to fix that?

Edit: I fixed it by deleting C:\Documents and Settings\Nick\Application Data\Sony\Render Templates\Last Used\Vegas Pro-qt7.sft2

Sorry about that Nick........LOL......I'm sure you'll fix it.
I started up another pc, with XP Pro 32bit and SVP 9.0e. The Quicktime codecs are working great on that computer. I guess you're right, somethings must be broken in my Win7 64 bit machine. I'll try that other version of QT too.

again, thanks, off to bed now.

I'm having the same problem. So I went back as far as I had to in Quicktime versions to get another result. Looked like success was just around the corner and the video was rendering, then crrrrash.

So, my question is, have .mov files ever been successfully rendered in Vegas Pro 10 64 bit?
Steve Mann wrote on 4/1/2011, 7:01 PM
Yes, I just uploaded two interviews that my client wanted h.264 in mov files.
