saving a timeline selection as a clip

How can I break up the captured clips into smaller clips? I tried loading a clip into an editing window and selecting the piece I wanted but couldn't figure out how to save that piece back out to the media pool. I am just doing some preliminary evaluation on the trial version and if I could do ths easily I'd probably buy the factory. Thanks

VideoFactory doesn't really have a function for this. Probably most people get used to chopping up the event into the pieces they want on the timeline while contructing their project.

If you really do want individual clips, you can select a section of the large clip and render just that section as a new .avi file.

And if you want to use the same clip twice you can copy and paste on the timeline.
