"Saving as" m2t files

When "saving as" using avi files, there is an option to save 2 seconds of video on the head and tail. This saves a lot of hard drive space when storing projects. However, Vegas does not do this with m2t files even though the option checkbox leads you to believe it does.
So, when I use a 5 second clip from a 15 minute continues shot, Vegas saves all 15 minutes of the m2t file. Is Vegas ever going to resolve this?

Interesting. I'd never noticed that before. A "Save veg with clips" saves the entire m2t clip even if you specify just the trimmed part, while things work normally with DV. I'm using V7.

SONY : Are you going to fix this? I heard Vegas 8 had "improved trim operations", however I see from the trial that it does not do any better with .m2t (& .m2ts?) files. This will prevent you from getting my $$$ for an upgrade :)
