Saving slow motion

On the Vegas interface, there is a little yellow arrow near the bottom left hand side that allows you to slow the video and audio so your normal voice sounds deep and is synchronized to the slow video that it also creates, I want to know how to save this new slow motion audio/video so I can record it that way. Thanks - Tom

That is simply the preview speed. If you want the video slowed down, you have to do that on the clips. If you want an entire project slowed down, you may be better off rendering to an AVI, importing that AVI to a new project, and then slow down the clip. The two main ways to slow down a clip are to hold down the CTRL key while resizing the clip or adding a velocity envelope.

OK, well, I'm a real newbee and have tried what you suggested and couldn't get it to work on the velocity thing, it didn't change the audio. Could you possible explain the resizing method? Thanks Tom

The velocity envelope DOES NOT change the audio - only the video.

To change the audio and video the same, resize the clip holding down the CTRL key. In other words, put the cursor on the end of the clip, hold down the CTRL key, and then move the mouse right to make it slower or left to make it faster.

WOW! I never knew that. Thank you :)

Just make sure you are using the 'Normal Editing Tool'(ctrl-D) when you do the control thing. Otherwise, it will not work. I got bit on that one.

Ok, I see what you mean but I don't get the same tone of voice as I do when I slow the rate down using that yellow arrow technique and it sounds echoey. Is their a way you can try what I'm doing and see it there is a way of recording the the video and audio at the 0.62 rate of speed I'm trying to accomplish. Thanks Tom

After stretching, right-mouse-button click on the audio, choose Properties, and change the Method to Change length and pitch. This will make the speed change similar to slowing down a tape recorder.
