saving themes

I want to save a theme I have created in a previous project. All I want to save is the background and the type of button size position etc. The text underneath each button I want to save the size and font but not the text. The text I want to load from the marker titles on the mpg movie. I can see there are themes already stored that will do this but when I load up my saved theme the text button has the titles of the chapters in the movie I saved the theme from instead of the text from the markers of the movie I have in the current project.

A theme is a template for your menu page. It doesn't lock down the text or content.

How are you saving your theme -- and what happens when you apply it to a menu page? It should take on the links and content of the page you're applying it to.

Im saving via the export theme menu. When I load it in it has all the buttons and background OK but the text shows the text from the project I saved the theme from and not as I want, the markers from the project I have loaded the theme into

Sorry, Johnny. I've no idea why that would happen. It's not been my experience.

There are two types of themes used by DVD Architect: Grid and Positional.

A grid-based theme lays out your menu according to settings for margins, paddings, alignments, and such. When an item is added, the other items on the menu reposition themselves according to those settings. Also, text labels are based only what you enter yourself for that particular menu.

A positional-based theme dictates exactly what the menu looks like -- including the number of items and the text associated with each item (though not the actual thumbnail images or media content).

Themes are saved as Positional by default. To export a Grid-based theme, click the Advanced button on the Export Menu as Theme dialog and change Theme Type to "Grid."
