Vegas has scene detection based on starts and stops of the camera. Whenever there is a jump in the date/time, it will create a new scene/file. You simply need to turn on the feature in the capture program AND have the date/time set in your camera.

Aha, there is my problem since Vegas totally refuses to Capture for me. All my other video programs I have will but not Vegas! Nothing happens at all when I hit the "Capture" button. Apperantly it does not detect scenes in videos dropped in from the Explorer window?

No. It only detects upon capture. Why won't capture work?

Haven't a clue!
Like I said the other video programs have Capture OK -
In the Vegas "Read Me" file it says something about OHCI Compliant - what-ever THAT is? Any tips?

Garo - Your 2 statements appear to be mutually exclusive:

1 - "Catpured files I get a single, long "movie"

2 - since Vegas totally refuses to Capture for me. Like I said the other video programs have Capture OK "

I would ask you to confirm that you do have "Scene Detect" enabled in the VidCap programme?

Keep us informed,

Grazie

Nope, Vegas will not capture for me. I tried turning on the "Forward" manually on the camera but no show.
So, there is no other way to detect scenes in Vegas besdies during Capture then?
That's my real question I guess.

Garo, How are you capturing? OHCI refers to the firewire card. V4 only captures with firewire. Analog cameras must use a separate video capture card. What setup do you use? Good Luck John.

As I stated earlier I am able to Capture using Pinnacle Studio and for example WINMX Capture - yes it is in fact a OHCI Compliant Firewire - so that's not the problem.
