Schindler's red coat

Has anyone tried to set up a colored object on a black & white scene? I want to show a flashback sequence in which a character remembers red shoes atop a pile of rubble after a WWII bombing--the rubble would be black&white and the shoes, of course, red. Similar to the little girl's red coat in the Speilberg film Schindler's List.

For the record, my film is in color. For the color vs. B&W purists, I'm just talking a four-second flashback with voice-over.
