Scopes/histogram and colour curves

PLease someone correct me if I'm wrong but I was working on an event making some adjustments with colour curves and there didn't seem to be any change in the Vectorscope/histogram readings realtime (didnt check the before and after method) It does however change realtime when applying colour correction filter. Is this normal? If so, how does one go about working with curves?

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

It should work, that's the whole point of having them, so you can see tiny changes in the scopes. Color curves is very sensitive and you should see effects in the wave patterns with tiny adjustments in the curve.

I've noticed in rare instances that sometimes you can drop a filter then make some adjustment and it has no apparent efect. Removing the filters and dropping in a new one of the same type always cured it for me. Why this happens I have no idea. The first thing I check is to see that I dropped the filter WHERE I wanted it. That's why those FX icons turns green, so you get a quick visual confirmation a filter is where you think you put it. Of course you also have to have the cursor within the event if that's what your adjusting to see the effect on that event in the preview window.

BillyBoy, I've run into the same thing - I'll be twiddling along just fine and then for some reason it seems like the adjustments no longer take affect. I then have to delete the FX and drop a new one on. It only seems to happen to me when someone is watching what I'm doing - :)

How about this one:

I can have a fairly long plug-in chain with maybe 5-6 filters applied, I go do something else in another event, then I go back to the event with all the filters and one or more have dropped from the plug-in chain so I can no longer adjust them but its apparent the filter is still effecting the event. It rare and again, just removing and redoing fixes it. Just curious of others see this too.

I've been having some wierdness with Satish's plug-in adapter and virtual dub filters. Sometimes it igonres the virtual dub filter and i have to go back in to reset it and then it works.
