scopes in realtime....

what should i use, if i am to use my laptop as my "monitor" (i know not the best idea)... i want to use it to make sure boom mikes are out of frame, vector scope is looking ok etc.. what can i use to montior this in realtime...
has anybody had any experience with any programs they would like to share? i have never tried, but does the one in vegas work while shooting?
(i have vegas 5)

i want an all around way to check everytihng.. being that it is usually just me and a friend or two... i want to be able to check mic levels.. color balance... brightness/blowouts etc....

i want an all in-oner...
anything exist?

This is exactly what DV Rack from Serious Magic is for. Scopes, audio monitors, everything you've brought up, plus you get a full size video monitor that's calibrated.
