When you say "clamped broadcast" are you refering to the broadcast colors filter? That filter only affects luma levels. (SF, please rename for V4) HSL will let you pull down the chroma saturation, but I'm suprised you would need to with the built in bars. In Vegas 2, they only generate a max of 180 RGB. That's well within legal levels to convert into YUV NTSC color space. I'll test with the MS codec and let you know what I get.

ok, I've now tried Avid codec ,microsoft,mainconcep,cinepak,& indeo,all scope correct according to the little dvscope,, SF off the charts. Just curious, is it a DV compensation thing ?

This tool probably does not use the SFDV reader, and instead uses the MS or some other DV codec to open the files. Print some bars to tape from the Vegas timeline, all is cool on a hardware scope.
