Screen Saver Problem

I know this might be a strange question but is there a way to create an AVI file from screen saver? i think the file extension is .SCR The reason i ask is a friend created some really unique screensavers that i would like to add to the beggining of a short movie i made. I searched on cnet but most programs i found crashed or were not very good. I dont know how this type of conversion could be done.

You could try a screen recorder such as Camtasia. http://www.techsmith.com I think there's a trial or something. It records any screen activity, full screen or region, to an AVI but I don't know about frame rate and tweaking. You have to find out for yourself. Let me know how it works out.

Screen saver capture.......
Been there done that doing it again someday.
I use the s-vid out on my video card to the input of my dv cam and a small tv connected to the composite out of the cam. A dual head video card with a s-vid out would come in handy here. I can only use one output of the video card at a time, and it's pretty hard to work the desktop via the cam's small LCD display.
Screen res to 800 x 600, and do a "preview" of the .scr file from the screensaver page in windows. Hit record.
If you don't have any additional out's on your video card....then hopefully Tommy's solution above will work.
