I was in the same boat, Jim (i.e. Titanic, aka Studio 8)
What a relief to use VF after wrestling with S8 for months. You won't regret the move.

Believe me, you won’t be disappointed. I have been using Studio 8 for a long time; I could not take it any more. I am glad I went with Video Factory and now happy with Screenblast!

How long did it take you to get your copy. I have a confirmed order 8-26-03 no ship info yet.

Thanks

It is so sad that people over on the Pinnacle forums just won’t believe us. I have tried many times when people have begged on that forum about how they have a deadline to meet and Studio keeps crashing, and I tell then the fix is to buy VideoFactory and start editing instead of debugging and 20 people jump on me about how Studio works fine if you have a stable PC and know the workarounds, etc. Workarounds? Isn’t that what you do in a mine field?

I’m convinced the Studio crowd is either very masochistic or very cheap and they want to get what they paid for to work at any cost. I’m forever seeing posts by some poor soul who asks. “I’m a beginner, isn’t there any software that’s better than Studio and actually works?” and all the diehards all reply, “No, all the video software is like this, video editing its just too demanding on a computer and you won’t find any software that works”. They just don’t get it. Glad to see you aren’t one of them anymore. ;-)

Actually, I must admit that I sneak back into S8 every now and then to use SmartSound to generate some music. You can buy it separately, but the scaled down version integrated into Studio is fairly nice as it is.

I also, occasionally, wander back into the S8 forums to see how they are doing. Still one post after another about problems, complaints, flames.

Oh, I use Hollywood FX Pro and SmartSound all the time. I just treat Studio like a standalone FX application. Nothin' wrong with that. I just don’t trust it an an NLE because it looses your titles, clips disappear, and then you get into the “rendering loop of death” where it keeps looping and looping and there’s nothing you can do about. Not for me anymore.
