Screenblast and Nero Compatibility

Has anyone a positive or negative experience with the coexistence of Screenblast's DVD and VideoCD burning functions with an installed Nero 6? Do their respective burning functions coexist well? I am Windows XP Professional SP1.
I'm about to order Screenblast and am checking for compatibility issues with my existing software. I expect to use Screenblast for video and to continue to use Nero for data CD's but little or nothing to do with videos beyond the test DVD's I've burned.

I didn’t answer this because I have no direct experience with the two products but I see no one else has do I’ll speculate. Screenblast’s DVD function is just MyDVD 4.5. So you might want to ask on the Sonic MyDVD forums if they have had any issues with Nero 6 coexisting well.

In general, the only time I’ve heard of CD writing software getting in each other’s way is when you install the packet-writing drivers that let you write to a CD as if it were a hard disk. That’s because these drivers stay resident in memory and monitor CD access. Adaptec called it DirectCD (i think?) others have different names for it. I don’t know if Nero has this capability but I remember installing an earlier demo of Nero on my old PC and it warned me to uninstall these drivers.

So if Nero has these drivers, it may keep MyDVD from working properly, then again, it may not. I elected not to uninstall the drivers and I think Nero still worked fine if I remember correctly. I made a few SVCD’s with Nero in the early days but once Ulead DVD MovieFactory came out, I made all my VCD’s and SVCD’s with that. These were way better than Nero at the time. (Nero 4 or 5 I think)

I’m sure someone on the MyDVD forum has used Nero. I would check there. Hope this helps,
