Screenblast movie studio 3.0 doesn't recognize my DV camcorder

Help! I've only worked with moviestudio 3.0 a few times (owned it about 3 weeks). My first couple projects didn't produce this problem, but about a week later, I tried to capture some DV footage from my camcorder and the program "Can't locate DV device." After about 2 hours of messing around, it finally did the capture (honestly, I don't know what, if anything, I did differently that time.)

A day later, I tried a new project. The capture worked OK, but when it came time to "Make a Movie" I selected print to DV tape, rendered the project and then found that the program couldn't detect the camcorder again. My connections are solid and the computer itself gives an auditory signal when the camera is turned on and off.

What could cause this? How do I fix it?

Hit the [capture video] icon again - thn go up and click on Video. Is your camera listed there? If so, does it have a "dot" beside it indicating that it has selected the camera as the active device?

MS3 seems to also be thrown off occasionally. When you use any other editing program, it seems to snatch away the camcorder link.

If all else fails, pop the installation disk back into your CD drive and click Install. An automatic repair utility will run and restore your capture/output device.

Thanks, Grisetti--I tried your suggestion. What I'm getting now is that the program recognizes the DV cam when I'm in capture mode, but when I try to export it still says no device detected.

What happens if you try sending the file to your camcorder regardless?

I think I remember, for some strange reason, the program telling me that no capture/output device was connected but, when I operated the "play" button, everything would link up.
