I've been using Screenblast Movie studio 3 for several months now. I was planning on getting Acid Studio very soon. But know I'm thinking of just getting Canopus aceDVio card + Vegas 4 Bundle.
Has anybody gone from SB3 to any Vegas platform? Was it worth it?
If this is a reocurring subject, please let me know where to post this.
Lots of us have done this. I went from Video Factory (the predecessor to Screenblast) to Vegas 3 and it was a very easy transitions. All the same stuff with more capabilities. Almost everything you’ve learned in Screenblast works the same way in Vegas so you will be up and running very quickly.
Was it worth it? For me, Yes. For you, only you can say. If there are features in Vegas that you need then it will be worth it. I think the plug-in architecture is worth it alone. I love the Pixelan filters so being able to add that was a big plus for me. Also all of the audio capabilities are outstanding.
Velocity filters, more tracks, keyframing. color correction, external preview, lotsa great features that make this worthwhile IF you find Vegas Movie Studio lacking in creative tools.
It's VERY easy, and all your former projects will open just fine in Vegas as well.
I too went from VideoFactory to Vegas. The transition is trivial. I still sometimes use MovieStudio when supporting various people that I "turned on" to SoFo/Sony products. It is still a great product, but Vegas is so much more powerful.
Spot listed a lot of good reasons to switch. I would also add print to tape (which saves TONS of time for simple projects that are mostly cuts, transitions and titles). For me, scripts are a huge timesaver. And external preview, which Spot mentioned, gives you so much more control over color correction and quality that you'll never again be able to live without it.
