I just tried to import media from a TV DVD .... You can't import media from copyrighted material?

What's a "TV DVD"?? You mean a commercial DVD release of a current, or past TV show?

Yes, there are copy protection measures that they install on such disks to prevent (or discourage) copying them ... and loading the file off the disk into Vegas is such a "copy"

HOWEVER ... your Subject refers to "screencapture" ...is all that you are trying to do is get still frames off that disk?

If so, there are DVD player software programs that will do that. Windows Media Player will not, but I've had programs in the past that, in addition to playing the DVD on my computer screen, will take "screencaptures" (still frames) from the movie disk. I don't have such a program now .. and I can't tell you which ones today will do that (if any) but that is an option for you to investigate if that is what you are trying to do.

I assume a snap shot is what you're looking for.

Download the freeware "MWSnap" and play the video on your pc, pause at the right spot and snap a shot. Quick and easy.

If you want a video capture, there are tons and I've used CamStudio, but you really have to work at getting decent results with any of them.
