[Script] Render to video track

Rosebud wrote on 10/3/2008, 1:56 PM
This script create a “Prerender” video track if needed and render video to this track.
It’s similar to the existing “Render to new track” tool, except no audio track is created and the render is always assigned to the “Prerender” track.

As always, all comment, bug report and suggestion are welcome.

Download “Render to video track” script.

Well, that was easy! Great stuff Gilles!

OK:

1] It wont keep my designated Render to Video Track folder.

2] It wont keep my template.

3] I'd LIKE a user definable name given to the rendered other than "Prerender"

For 1] and 2] maybe a "Keep Settings" check-mark?

For 3] maybe an incremental name using the Veg project name as the "base_name"?

Otherwise I love it for its simplicity and swiftness to GUI. Gets a "GraziEase" mark of 4.2 outta 5.

THANK YOU GILLES!!

Grazie

Thank you Graham,

Ok for 1 & 2 (I adds it to my list)

About 3:
The files are named like that:
Veg base name (caution: project must be saved) + “ - Prerender - ” + TC In + TC Out.
So, have you try with a saved project ?

" . .(caution: project must be saved) . . So, have you try with a saved project "

Gilles, you are far, FAR too diplomatic!!

And now, I have saved a TEst_Gilles veg and yes it works - of course.

New version available.
Now the script should retain format type, template and last prerender directory.

Same link to download.

Now, if I MOVE the newly rendered Event, AND I want to re-render, should I be able to do this? At the moment I am getting an error.

You have to rename the media before to re-render (you can do that in Project Media window).
It is because the script try to delete the old media before to re-render.

EDIT: Ok, I changed the way how the script name the file. Now an id number is added to the name. I sent you a mail to test the new DLL please.

Now THAT is one seriously slippery script!! Brilliant!

I am making renders on the fly with ALL types of templates AND the last template stays . .I can SEE what is happening and I can REUSE the ones I want too.

Thanks Gilles

Hi Gilles.

DV is fine, but WMV V9 512 or 3mbps I get a:

"System.ArgumentException: Invalid media Type."

I'm sending you the screen grabs.

I must be doing something wrong.

Ok, it’s a bug.
I sent you a new version to try.

Works perfectly on 4 other render templates, so I can assume this is "cured"?

Great work Gilles, maybe you need to swap this post over to the Scripting Forum? Up to you . . .

Avez vous a bon Dimanche! Au revoir pour maintenant . . . et merci . .

My download page is updated.

Bon dimanche à toi aussi Graham ;))

Hmmm... ?

Does this mean that there is a need to debug ALL other templates too?

I'm guessing you needed to do THIS one - and only this one? - 'cos the nature of RenderTo ... , which doesn't provide another Audio track, and that maybe your script was conflicting WITH the Template that DON'T produce an audio "stream", as they are required not to, either? Am I correct in my assumption?

Grazie

Rosebud wrote on 11/23/2008, 2:05 AM
No, my script was conflicting with the Template that produce ONLY audio stream.
So, I added a test to remove all Format and Template with NO VIDEO stream.
