Scrolling Text

I am working on an educational video and need to include several pages worth of writing that I would like to scroll across a solid color background at a slow and readable pace. I seem to be having some sort of brain fade on how to do that (I can't imagine doing that much scrolling text with the 'header' thing in credits) Can anyone please help? If not with VMS, another common program? Thanks. Cin

Use the regular text event generator. Type in as long a paragraph as you need. Keep in mind the width as you type, since Vegas won't automatically wrap at the screen width for you.

After you're done typing set the length value at the top of the text generator window to whatever duration you want the text scroll to last. Now go into the Placement tab and drag the text area down until the top of it is below the bottom of the frame. After that, add a new keyframe at the end of the duration (the keyframe timeline is at the bottom of the window). Now drag the text up until the bottom of the text area is above the top of the frame.

When Vegas plays this event it will start the text at the bottom and slowly slide it to the top, taking however long you specified for the length. You can change the length as necessary to make it go faster or slower, however you'll have to manually move the last keyframe after changing the length.

A big thank you as always Kelly. I really appreciate the fast response, and info :). Wish VMS had the most basic of text editting features, like wrap, but what can you say :/ Your method works great, and I appreciate you sharing. Take care. Cin
