Can someone tell the comparision on a VX2100 vs HVR-Z1U in SD MODE (not worried about HD now). Clients are demanding SD because they don't have either HD TV or player. If the picture quality is same on both on SD mode I like to buy the Z1U since it is new model compare to VX2100. I know ther are lots of other features loaded in Z1U. But I do care only about the picture quality on SD mode. I greatly apprecieated your advise. Thanks

Shooting HDV on the Z1 and downconverting either in camera or Vegas (better) will give much higher quality SD than the VX2100 could manage. Plus you get 16:9, balanced audio in and a zillion more image tweaks and the ability to do transitions like rack focus. To say nothing of your investment being a bit more future proof.
The only thing the VX2100 gives you is more low light capability than any of the HDV cameras at around the same price point.

Also don't overlook the V1 either...or wait for the XDCAM EX...

Thank you Farss. I certainly shop for a Z1U . I will also look into a camera light that might help in low light to compromise the low light issue with Z1U. thanks

In the old days when I was using an Angenuix ? F0.95 25mm lens with K2 16mm film and one 750 watt indoor light with flourescent overhead lighting the results were not even close to the Z1 with flourescent lights only. This includes noise, color rendition, color saturation, and last but not least the incessant 24P blinking that drives me up the wall.
