Seems to me that it's not so busy here...

used to be that I would se postings like crazy round these here parts... maybe I'm just remembering the good ol days of a new version coming out and digging around and finding info on it early :) However - it surely seems like it's not the hot posting block from back in "my day" ;-)

Guess everyone's working to meet those Christmas deadlines. Post some controversial topics and see if that brings people out!

right now the word sony is not to well to mention (thanks to Sony BMG) and ive received some real hate feedback because of my promotion of vegas as a result ...

a high end home theater company i do some work for has had some of the same issues and pulled most sony products from thier shelves

maybe people are keeping low for awhile ... a LOT of publicity on these issues locally and national around here ...

did they play a sony CD as a demo and get the rootkit installed?

Or did they pull Sony products as preemptive protest about the rootkit.

As bad as the rootkit fiasco is, I doubt it has anything to do whatsoever with the frequency of posts in this forum. Hopefully the sales of Vegas have not declined. Declining forum activity is often a sign of poor sales (because much activity is from "newbies").

Out of the 10 or so local Vegas users that I know only myself and two others visit here. There's MANY Vegas forums, so what goes on here is hardly a barometer of what's happening with Vegas.
I've noticed quite a decline though in forum activity everywhere, not just the Vegas fora.
I have heard though that the Movie Studio line is selling very well, it's on the shelves of at least one major retailer down here and it's a big hit with businesses needing to do some quick video work. Down side for us is I think they're jobs that would have gone outside i.e. to you and me!

I seriously doubt that it's a barometer of the vegas sales etc... I just figure people are busy and haven't got lots of time to post all the time. (that's been the case with me) which is good - I just remember there being a lot more activity on the forums before when I first started (maybe that was caused by me though :) )

Maybe we can start an OT political discussion John. What do you say?

John

PS: Just kidding, of course.
I think the lack of posts is just because people are busy with other things at the moment. That's all.

That's the case for me, September-->December is a pretty intense preriod for me and I don't have a lot of time to post...

I check in when I am bored.
Many of the requested functions have been added so not alot of how-to get around
the problem questions. (remember delayed buttons questions?)

The crap Sony pulled in the days after September 11 finally catches up with them....I am so glad to hear that comment Brian.

This group is just too good. You have hashed out a lot of the questions/problems, so when I come on board, I just use the search function to answer my questions.

Seriously, thanks to all for the answers and tips. Along with VASST, DMN, most of the newbie and advanced questions are already answered.

The pace of this forum is very cyclical. In times past, the forum was always buzzing after a new release, but slowed considerably once most of the new features were discovered and discussed.

The only thing that increased in the past during the lul was all the unprofessional flack and personal attacks--which has stopped completely.

This is good, since they were obsurd, but as a result we haven't had as much emotional involvement and the personalities and opinions of the forum members have not been as evident.

In addition, there have been a LOT of new members which has diluted the intimacy. As a result, the discusions have been more academic, instead of personal.

All of these changes have made for an interesting forum cultural observation. As a marketing professional, who has used forums as a tool, and has spoken on the value of forums to increase brand loyalty, and build a groundswell community, this has been very, very interesting.

We'll see how it continues to evolve. I know I have just gotten too busy to frequent this forum daily as I did previously--now my I only visit 2-3 times a week at best and may only post a response once every two weeks or so.

Fortunately, I still recognize a lot of names, but I also miss several that used to be regulars.

There was a drop in activety when the forum rules changed and everyone had to login with their serial numbers. Not sure if that is related to the current situation.
