select data in trimmer question

hi,
the only of the 3 methods described in the manual that actually "selects" data is manually dragging / drawing a blue selection in the trimmer window. Marking I and O points during playback does create a loop region, but the actual selection between the markers remains uncolored / unselected and cannot be dragged to the timeline.
am I missing something here?
thanks!

Click the highlighted bar at the top of the timeline and then press 'A' to add it to your timeline at the current cursor position.

thanks again Mike!
for some reason it now works when I place the cursor manually and use the I/O keys too. Did not work yesterday...
