Selecting every 13th frame

Skyler-Campa wrote on 6/8/2023, 5:22 PM

I'm making a subtle horror short and I want to insert spooky effects and words and things on certain numbered frames, and it would save me billions of hours if I could somehow say "select every 13th frame and insert this. Or if that's not a thing, a way to create said spooky frame and automatically paste it to every 13th frame. Does that make sense? I'm also super open to other methods to do what I'm trying to do. Thanks in advance!

If it matters, I'm using the latest version of 20 on Windows 11.

@Skyler-Campa Hi, there might be a better way but just a thought,

If you find the Script Menu folder, (C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 20.0\Script Menu) find a script & duplicate it, then if you alter it you'd be able to split your clip into every 13th frame, you can then use keyboard keys [ ] to jump along the start & ends pasting as you go,

This thread is where i learnt that 👍

PS, or add an empty event above your clip & split that instead, then you don't have to split your clip & that split empty event will work as your 13fr markers

every 13th frame

On a 30p project that'd be 2.3 images per second, that's be like a strobe or a Flicker fx?

It would be pretty easy to do with Vegasaur. Add video track so it's track 1, then put image on it. Drag it out so it extents entire length of project. Now split clip ever 13 frames using Vegasaur's Editing > Split Events. Then set each clip to 1 frame in length, or however many frames in length you want, using Vegasaur's Selected Events > Events > Extend Events. I guess you could find or write a script to do all that.

@Robert Johnston 👍 Cool, I don't have Vegasaur but inspired I found a script on the HOS page that sets the event length,

Same as you suggested, media on one track, Image on the track above, split image into equal parts, each stays selected so just then set those images to length. 👍
