Sell me Catalyst

Since Sony is having a yard sale, and sold most of their stuff, I'd like to offer them $1,000 for the rights and source code to Catalyst. There seem to be about 5 people using it, and each annual subscription is $200, so that's $1,000.

Make it $500.00. Catalyst Prepare is worth something while Catalyst Edit is worth nothing.

hahahah cruel but probably true. you gotta wonder who called the shots on this, thinking it was a good idea? I think the cat stuff should probably be freeware given away to every owner of sony cameras

Past precedent in the industry including Sony had established that some software would be available in camera sales bundled.
This has been a practice until recently where the low-end camera sale/street price point was shaved off the program. There has been some at the prosumer camera level for years, then Sony began charging a fee.

Now that Catalyst is striking a larger marketplace, I would see this only bundled by Sony for the very high-end ($6,000 and above) camera sale.
