separating 2 audio tracks with SF Studio 5

I've read about not being able to separate audio recorded on separate microphones so you can choose which you want. It sound like this can be done in Sound Forge. I have sound forge studio 5 (not on the computer yet). Will this do the job? I just ordered VV3 and am just using the demo right now.

If the microphones were recorded to separate channels, one mic to the left channel and the other mic to the right channel, then either SoundForge or Vegas will be able to separate them for you. Keep in mind that unless the mics were separated in soundproof rooms, each one probably picked up at least some of what the other was recording as well.

If the microphones were mixed together onto the same track then you're out of luck. Even if they were only mixed together slightly, for example mic 1 -> 75% left & 25% right, mic 2 -> 25% left & 75% right, then there isn't anything you can do to eliminate one mic's signal from the other after they are mixed.
