Serious sound trouble

Ubik-999 wrote on 8/5/2023, 4:11 AM

Hello everybody, I use Vegas pro 20 on a laptop and I take care of creating videos for music. So far I've never had any problems. And recently, my Vegas no longer integrates the wave. Only MP3. If I put wave, instead of showing me the sound curve, it draws me something that looks like a brick wall. And in terms of the rendering, it's horrible: two seconds of music, then an atrocious, very powerful white noise. Then nothing or intermittent clicks. Has anyone come across this problem before ? Thanks for any help.

Hi @Ubik-999 and and welcome to the Vegas users community.

Is a specific WAVE file that is causing the issue or is it all files with the <.wav> extension. What is the source of the WAVE files? Are they embedded in a video file? Most WAVE files are an uncompressed PCM format, but I have encountered files with the <.wav> extension that are a lossy type and use a uncommon codec, specific to a device or software. Post the file's attributes from the MediaInfo utility (as @Yelandkeil demo'd) and/or upload the file to a cloud storage or a file sharing website so may investigate it firsthand.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. First of all, I have to say that it's been doing this with all the tracks recently, before I didn't have a problem. These are my pieces of music, I am a composer. In MP3 it goes very well, more in Wave and I don't understand, whereas I've already done some editing before, with the same type of tracks. I'm looking for how I could display these track properties and show them to you...

What audio driver are you using in Vegas?

rraud wrote on 8/5/2023, 2:30 PM

You could try the 'Reset/Clear CYou could try the 'Reset/Clear Cache' procedure, which is known to resolve many abnormal issues. The downside is many of your custom settings will be reset to the factory default as well. See the instructions here:

Here is a point that may be important, indeed: I'm using an external sound card, from Native, and I just saw that in Vegas, the default device is the computer's internal sound card. So I wonder if it would not come from there, because everything has been reinstalled recently, and it is possible that in the previous version, everything had been configured according to my Native sound card. I can't remember.

Hi,

Thank you for this answer. Maybe I'll try it tomorrow.

I also noticed that Vegas crashes all the time, I constantly have to make backups so as not to miss anything. I wanted to look into the automatic backups, but I couldn't find a setting for them to take place more often. I changed the battery of my laptot, because when it is tired, the machine goes to sleep and shuts down abruptly, and there we lose all our work. I hope it will help the system to be more stable...

Look for the advanced backup feature and you can do minor and major backups at whatever frequency you like.

Do you have to edit on battery? Suddenly going to sleep isn't good for VEGAS.
