Set default track properties

The audio track properties keep reverting to factory default. 'Noise Gate, Track EQ, 'Track Comp.'
( right click Trk. #, un-check FX box and others for that matter) After changing, the boxes remain un-checked, but the same FX show up anyway.
I was able to change the defaults in previous versions of Vegas.
Am I missing something here?

The boxes you check are the ones you want to conform to your new preferences.
On a track, include/exclude the effects of your choice. Right-click track header, Set Default Track Properties. Check the FX box. OK.
