You can't. Not within DVD Architect, anyways.

You could create chapter markers in Vegas -- I'm sure there must be a script or several for setting Vegas markers at intervals. Then either render your video out of there, making sure to check he option to include markers, or use this script here to create the file required by DVD Architect for chapter markers. Sorry, I don't know where to find "every N interval" script, but if you do a search of this, the Vegas, and the scripting forum, I'm guessing one will turn up.

Thanks. I decided to create a blank project within Vegas, add 5-minute chapter points there, and export them using the script. Okay, now what do I do with the resulting .sfl file? I can't find any instructions on how to import this into DVDA.

FYI, Vasst's Ultimate S v3 (maybe v2 as well, I didn't check) allows you to insert markers at time intervals of your choosing.

That works in Vegas, not DVDA.

Just give it the same name (other than extension) as the video file and put it in the same folder. DVD Architect will detect the markers file when you load the video. If it doesn't do so automatically, click the Load Markers button above the video's timeline in DVD Architect.

I tried giving it the same name, and placing it in the same folder as the video file, but no markers showed up. I also tried the method suggested using Ultimate S v. 3, but that failed, as well. I could insert the markers in Vegas, but the .sfl file has no effect on the video in DVDA.

Hm.

Slight but important correction to my post: When you create the SFL file, be sure that its name is preceded by the entire name of the video file. The SFL file actually embeds that name inside itself, so even naming it incorrectly and then renaming it wouldn't work.

So, if your video file is sonyvegas.mpg -- you should run the script and create sonyvegas.mpg.sfl.

If you're doing that already, I don't know what to tell you. ;)

Let me get this straight: In order for DVDA to read the SFL file, I must first render the video in Vegas, and then run the script, giving it the same name as the rendered video, which might be different than the name of the project. If so, then this won't work for me. I'm frameserving to TMPGEnc to take advantage of its noise-reduction filter, which is a big help in cleaning up the old VHS tapes I'm transferring.

I didn't say anything about rendering a file.

You add the markers you want to a Vegas project and run the script. In the textbox of the script dialog, type the the full name of the video file plus the .slf extension.

And the name of your project is irrelevant. In fact, it doesn't even need a name.

Thanks. I followed your instructions, and finally got it to work.

By the way, I tried to do the same thing with Ultimate S 3. It's easy to insert markers at a specific interval. You can also save these markers to a file. However, apparently this is not an SFL file, for no markers showed up in DVDA.
