Setting the audio editor preference???

I selected a .EXE for Wave Lab Lite thinking that could be my audio editor but it did not launch with the Sony .veg file in the program.

Should I have used the Steinberg Cubasele instead? Currently I cannot find the EXE for this to try it.

What is going on? I thought Vegas Pro was derived from a great audio program and I can't even drop a small region of the audio track to 0 decibels. The Mute button keeps muting the whole track.

I cannot grab the line to drop the split section to zero. I did this about a year back but am having big troubles now.

Can anyone help?

Make sure you have chosen the correct .exe file by testing it
separately. In Windows Explorer, double-click the .exe to see if it launches.

This is a matter of personal preference.

-- Assign this in "Options> 'Preferences> Audio", Choose whatever file you use to open in your preferred audio editor in "Program files" (or a shortcut)

--- The audio editor does not automatically open along with Vegas or with the veg. file.( If that's what you're asking) Select an audio event you wish to edit, access the audio editor in the 'Tools' menu... or right-click the event, and select the audio editor & option.

Select the track / event, move the cursor to the point your wish to split and press the "s" key.

(double-click to add envelope points) or... split the segment you wish to attenuate and use the event's volume. (click and drag down the top edge of an event., should be a thin blue line)
(press the "v" key to show / hide the volume envelope.
