Looking for tips on configuring my system (i7 3770) so that QuickSync and my graphics card will play nicely together. I'm currently running V11 and will be upgrading to V12 in the next couple of days.
My understanding is that your motherboard has to be Z68/77/78 or similar. Onboard graphics needs to be enabled in bios and a screen attached to onboard graphics. Second screen to 550ti, make sure desktop is spread over both screens.
Works perfectly under Edius with v quick mp4 (BD) render times. So far have failed to get this set up to run with Vegas. My onboard intel graphics is 2nd gen 3000. Read somewhere that 4000 graphics is needed with Vegas.
Thanks for the info, I had both monitors connected to the 550ti card. I do have the Intel 4000 series GPU and will connect one of the monitors to it tonight. I have two 1920x1080 monitors, should I connect the primary or secondary to the on-board graphics?
I hope I can get this working with V12, I'm looking forward to fast trancodes of my AVCHD source footage to something more edit-friendly.
diverG I believe you are confusing Virtu MVP with Quicksync. Virtu needs an ASUS mb with the correct chipset and then you can use the HD 4000 graphics to help a supported GPU.
Quicksync has to be enabled in the bios and run to a dedicated monitor seperate from the GPU card monitor. Here is some good info on Quicksync:
Either, it doesn't matter.Just make sure the two screens share the desktop. Start from intel display properties R click on screen and select graphics properties.
It's known to work using a second input from a monitor connected to the onboard graphics output. The output just needs to be terminated. I've used my two main screens connected to 550ti and an old screen connected vga to on board graphics.
Once you get things working please post how you set up the hardware.
I'm currently running using both an Nvidia gtx560 ti and the on board Intel 4000 chip.
I had problems initially when I installed the Nvidia card and drivers because I got a BSOD as soon as I attempted to start up the PC.
what I had to do was uninstall the on board graphics and driver, then install the Nvidia card along with the drivers.
Once that was working fine I then reinstalled the drivers for the Intel chip.
I also had to go into BIOS to set the option for both graphics cards to be used.
Both graphics cards work independently and when I check the nvidia display settings only one monitor is shown.
Also checking the Intel display settings only one monitor is shown.
This allows quick sync to work as well as Sony vegas and cuda.
there was no need to set primary display or tell nvidia to use both.
I just dragged the Sony vegas video display window over to the monitor on the right hand side ( the Intel one) and everything works great.
as a side note Vegas 12 is now working fine, no crashes and new-blue titler also works just fine.
I hope this helps, it was awkward to set up at first but now its set up I get the best of both worlds. I use quick sync from within TMPgenc mastering works, for Bluray and it is fantastic.
