Setting up Vegas on a Win XP laptop

Hello. I just got a dell 5100 series laptop for remote gigs. A couple of questions:

Anyone know where I can read up on "optimizing" windows XP? I've seen dozens of these documents talking about optimizing 9x, but haven't found anything on XP

Is anyone out there using one of those external HDD cases that let you install internal IDE drive and then hook up to USB 2 or firewire? How do they work out?

Does anyone know of any firewire interfaces that are in the 4 in 4 out category?

Thanks, Matt

Windows XP doesn't need nearly as much optimization as w9x, but here is a good article for the basics:

www.tascam.com/products/computer_recording/ W2k_XP_Optimize.pdf

As for the HDD case, I have a firewire one for my laptop and it works great. A company called ADS makes it.

M-Audio is making a new firewire interface that looks promising, although I have no experience with it.
