Settings for making Blu-ray discs

I apologize if this repeats previous topics, but I couldn't find it clearly answered on other posts.

I recently upgraded to HD video camera (Canon Vixia HFM300 capable of 1920x1080 video). I am also just purchased an LG BE12LU30 external Blu ray disc writer. The typical discs I produce are of family functions/vacation with video and a section for digital still photos.

What settings should I use in both VMSHD Platinum 10 and in DVDAS 5 so that I can output to burn BD-R discs that will play in a Sony Blu-ray disc player?

Your camcorder shoots in a variety of formats. If you plan to edit HD in Vegas MS, I'd recommend you shoot only in FXP or MXP mode. Your cam also shoots in stereo or 5.1 audio. You can shoot in either, but remember which.

Then, when you use Project/New to create a new project, choose the AVCHD 1920x1080 option with the audio format that matches your video.

When you're ready to output your movie, you can just go to Make Movie and select the option to Burn a BluRay disc.

I've got a free 8-part series of Basic Training tutorials if you're interested. They may get you started. My books on Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect Studio may also be helpful, if you're looking for step-by-step guides.

Thanks Steve....you're helpful as always!

For the digital stills, any special settings (re:de-interlacing settings) to minimize the pixellation and ghosting?

Thanks!

To update....followed the (simple) instructions, burned the project to BD-R disc on new LG BE12LU30 writer on Verbatim BD-R disc, and it played without a hitch in Sony BD player. It was a simple test project, but it went without a hitch.

For anyone looking for an external BD drive, this one seems great, and a terrific price at Newegg.
