SF coming to the party in VV4

hi,

i think its time that SF got serious and added either a frameserving capability on the output render so we can use an external mpeg convertor or process.

There can be no question that virtualdub has far advanced video cleanup plugins to VV...indeed VV hardly has one thats dedicated. There are a 'LOT' of us cleaning up video tapes or inferior video SF...a lot.

All of us working with video have large hard drives...but not THAT large SF.

Heres another option that would clean up the opposition...allow VV4 to load Virtualdub plugins...make it a separate folder in the plugin section. i bet theres dribble from a lot of faces hitting the floor contemplating the possibilities of this idea... Virtualdub is open code...surely it would not be that hard to figure out how to get that going. And it would instantly make VV4 a FAR more valuable and advanced tool to sell...and use.

This wouldnt encroach on your own future plugin package sales if your own plugins are proven to be better quality than the free ones from virtualdub...(unless youre scared that they might not be and thats why you want to reject the idea.)

SF, lets Go!! chop chop!!

Check the various threads which have "Satish" in them. He is working on a way to use several types of plug ins. Do a SEARCH on Satish.

I'm currently working on adding VDub plugins support to Vegas...

Now, how is THAT for a quick answer?

(Thanks, Satish!)

Satish...you are a champion!! im sure your efforts will be rewarded. May i suggest you make it a type of adapter/convertor program, as opposed to hakking VV4. Otherwise youll have to perform your changes again on VV every time they update...

Do you mean, as a standalone program instead of a plugin??
Blackout wrote on 3/11/2003, 10:41 PM
kinda...a separate program that you load your virtualdub plugins into, that VV then sees as its own format plugins...kinda like the way VFAPI makes fake avi files..your program could make fake Sonic foundry plugins that pass the data/converts the data to the virtualdub plugins sitting in your program, and back to VV....this way you could take complete control over your own program, make it a separate download, update it separately, etc. Otherwise your hakking VV, and that might be an issue.

Or your program could be a batch program that you only use once on a virtualdub plugin that creates a sf VV equivalent file...but i imagine this is a lot more prone to problems...or not? Still, it would be faster than re-writing every virtualdub plugin from the past (and future) to become a VV one...

Or ultimately you could just write the changes/code to incorporate it for VV4 and then plonk it on Sonic Foundrys desk...and hope they give you change for the meter in return... :) either way, its a labour of love and i wish you god speed!!
