My Config:
- Windows XP Pro
- VV3.0a
- Dell Dimension 4300 1.6Ghz P4 w/512MB RAM
In VV30a I rendered an AVI file using the NTSC DV preset. The project is a bunch of still images. The AVI file looks great when previewed with Media Player. This AVI file was created while the Sonic Foundry DV Codec was used (Microsoft DV Codec Disabled).
I then start a new project in VV30a and import the AVI I just rendered to create an MPEG2 file. When I play the project and watch the preview window, some areas of the preview have flickering going on. If I render to an MPEG2 file using the Main Concept MPEG2 DVD NTSC preset, the flickering is rendered into the file. I can verify this when viewing the MPEG2 file with Media Player.
But I can get around the flickering two ways:
Solution #1:
I use TMPGEnc to create my MPEG2 file from the AVI, or
Solution #2:
In VV30a, I enable the Microsoft DV Codec before I render my MPEG2 file.
In both solutions, the MPEG2 file ends up perfect although the Microsoft DV Codec makes the MPEG2 file a little brighter overall. So it seems to me there may be something going on with the Sonic Foundry DV Codec causing this flickering.
I have posted two files on my web site if you'd like to see what I mean:

Any comments?
Thanks,
Ron
