shadow on subtitles

How do I add a shadow on the subtitles? I want my subtitles white but without a shadow its too hard to read, so I need to figure out how to add some shadows or at least a black outline. I know theres a shadow option but I can only get it to work on the menus but not on the video file.

Anyone got any ideas?

As you've discovered, the shadow option is only available for menu text, not for subtitles.

You can get an outline around your subtitles by selectin a subtitle and clicking the O[utline] button. It's next to the B[old] and I[talic] buttons. Or if you click the O button off, you will get a colored background behind the subtitle instead of an outline. To change the color of the outline / background, edit the subtitle's color set. Select a subtitle on the workspace, then check the Properties window. Under the Subtitle Properties, the Colors setting will default to Color Set 4. That should be fine. Now go down to the Color Sets section and edit Color Set 4. One of the colors used in it is the Outline / background color; that's the one you want to change.

If there's a way to change the width / size of the outline, I haven't found it yet. They're certainly should be, but I don't think there is. Oh well.
