I run dual monitors on Win XP Home.

Your video card needs to support dual monitors. Go to the website of your video card and search around.

You need either a two head video card or two individual cards.

For Windows XP (Pro or Home)

Now:
Go to your basic desktop.
Right click the screen

Then Properties>Settings - you should see two screens there
Click Identify to - well - identify the screens.

There is a scroll box that shows you the two cards - you can click either screen identifier and adjust the screen size and color resolution accordingly. You cannot adjust a bigger size or color space than your card will deliver, but you don't need a super expensive card to do this.

Multiple monitor support has been built into Windows since version 98SE. That's slightly moot however since Vegas 5 & 6 require XP or 2K.
