short gaps in audio when I print to tape VV3

P3, 1GHZ, 512 RAM, Win 2000, VV3. When I print to tape the audio drops out, for about 1/2 second, every minute or two. I'm using the same system that I used with VV2 and it printed to tape just fine. Fortunately, the project I'm currently working on is a DVD, so, I really don't need to print to tape right now, but I would like to figure out what is wrong before I do need it! Any thoughts?

Your system appears to be plenty robust to me. I'd be checking for background aps or perhaps a mouse driver. I run XP pro on a system with only 128 MB of RAM, 900mhz AMD Athlon processor, and, VV30 ran fine on my machine until I upgraded a Logitech Marble/mouse driver. Then I ran into the problems you describe.

The interruptions for me were almost rhythmic.

Win98, on the other hand, never worked reliably with VV for me. That's why I finally bit the bullet and moved to XP. I also have Win2000, and VV30 ran fine on that OS as well.

Don't know if I've helped you or not, but that was my intent.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response Caruso. I haven't changed mouse drivers in quite a while, so, I'll check the background apps. I have norton anti-virus...I'll try disabling that and the firewall and see if that helps.

Some people recommend a much more radical approach than just disabling the virus checker and firewall. They recommend that you prune your task list to just Explorer and Systray before starting Vegas Video.
