Short wave radio effect

I'm trying to create an audio file with a short wave radio effect. The idea is to appear to be listening to an overseas radio broadcast.

I can add white noise, static, fade ins/outs but I'm not sure the best way to create an effect of the 'station' going in and out of tune. I thought I'd try adjusting pitch but am not sure if that's the way to go. I even plan on having morse code fade in and out along with the audio as well.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Doc

Isotope has a free plugin "Vinyl" that can produce vinyl and other types of electronic noise which may be of use.

The in and out of tune is on short wave radio is caused by multiple paths to the receiver which causes certain frequencies to be nulled out. Space diversity receivers were used to minimize this effect much like wireless mic receivers today.

The flanger effect does the same thing.

Thanks for the tips. I already have Isotope "Vinyl" and will try the 'flanger' effect next.
