You have to try it to see for yourself.
I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks,

Randy, the machine doesn't have to be connected to the internet to test it out. You can download all the various components from any machine, burn them to CD/copy to pen drive and then install from there. You can even "register from another computer".

Preview Playback Speed: I only notice a difference if I have File Properties set to 32-bit. At 8-bit, VP8 performs exactly as V7 does.

Render Speed: I haven't done any comparisons, but again, is this comparing 8-bit to 8-bit? Or 8-bit to 32-bit? If the latter, I wouldn't worry about it.

Color Gamma: You can change the gamma in File Properties. The default is 1.0 (linear), which, yes, does change the gamma from V7. If you want to maintain the same gamma as V7, use the 2.20 (video) setting.

New Titler: It's a new interface, so there's a learning curve. Definitely more capable than the old Vegas Titler. However, the old one is still there, so you certainly don't lose anything.

If you're coming from V6, don't forget all the improvements that were introduced with V7, all of which are included in V8. The snapping bars and A/V synch tool alone should be worth the $130 upgrade.

Thanks Edward, prior to posting I looked for a way to download the components on the MS site but everything pointed to the auto updates. I guess I didn't look hard enough.
Thanks again Edward...great review on V8 by the way!

.NET 3.0 download info can be found here

Should you need other components, the setup program will tell you what they are. Then just do a search to find the "redistributable" version of that component.
