While the ability to grab the corners of audio events and drag in a fade it extremely handy, the fades created are pre fade. This means that (eg) if you have a track comp set up the compression effect reduces through the fade, as the audio falls below the treshold. If you had a gate set up, you'd reach a point in the fade where the gate closes on levels that would previously trigger it.
The solution of course is to use volume envelopes, as these are post track- fx. But it's not nearly so elegant or immediate as grabbing the event corner.
I know the event level is also pre-fx, but I haven't found this to cause issues yet in the way I work - again, it's a really fast way to set rough levels when you're importing a load of sfx from different sources, if a little technically suspect :-)
In the past I've argued on these very forums against event level volume envelopes, and I not sure I'd want then even now. However, would it be useful to anyone else to have the event gain changable to event level (ie post fx)? Or am I just being lazy/picky?
Oh, and event level fx would be nice.... but here's not the place for such musings.
