Shutdown after render completes?

GlenL wrote on 1/24/2005, 1:36 PM
I frequently start a render pass as the last thing thing at night. I'd like to be able to have the system shutdown when rendering completes. For some reason, the normal power management does not seem to kick in so my system is still running in the morning when I get back to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks to offer?

Nero has a nice checkbox that I use to shutdown the system after a burn is complete. I think this would be a nice feature for Vegas.

Thanks,
Glen

Does it really matter that much? I turn the monitor off and let the computer keep running.

I also wish it had that option...or possibly the ability to pause and then resume a render. I guess we'll just have to add that to the Vegas 6 wishlist :)

Yes it matters! I don't leave the doors open to heat the neighborhood :)

This is what you are looking for....

http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/WinOFF.php

It can shut off (or hibernate or whatever) based on time, time lapse, cpu usage (the one I use) etc. So sometimes I setup a big render or even multiple renders (using the great scripts out there) and let'er rip while I'm gone or sleeping. The machine shuts down after the last render and will even take a screen shot if you so desire.

It is only $175 bucks too!

(Actually it is totally free, sounds like a bragin now :).

Jason, thank you! Sounds like this will do exactly what I want.

I have a script tool embedded in an .exe-file. This is beta state of somebody who let test me the tool, a Vegas render tool made for Vegas 4 and no more continued. One option of this tool is to automatically shutdown the pc after render. I think it is a simple Windows command which can do the job and somehow it can be combined with scripting. Maybe some of the scripting experts here know how to do it.

It'd be great if Sony put that feature (resume render) on the next version of Vegas!
