Sidechain audio in Vegas 11 Pro

No idea why this didn't occur to me before, but I'm doing a project with a LOT of VO in it and I'm hoping to avoid the pitfalls of importing/exporting files hither and yon.

Till now, I've always just exported tracks and done sidechain work (primarily for ducking sound behind a VO) in Cakewalk and then imported the files to Vegas.

Is there a relatively pain-free way to sidechain in Vegas, or should I just keep doing what I'm doing?

If you limit your voice over track to only the sections that have voices, you can use a tool like the Voice Over tool in Excalibur or the similar tool found in Ultimate S.

Thanks for that. I have Ulimate S, but it's more of a blunt instrument. I'm really looking for a solution that is an actual side-chain, rather than just sort of a flat level reduction for the duration of a track.I can easily just create envelopes myself.

Genuine sidechain compression just sounds so polished and subtle.

After some extensive hunting around I found this:

It fits the bill exactly, except it's not 64-bit. I tired it in Vegas 11 32 bit and it works like a total charm. What a brilliant bit of coding. Alas. I'll keep doing it the old way since I just prefer not to be swapping versions of Vegas (jumping out to Cakewalk and back is enough).

Andreas, is that one of Dave Brown's plug ins? I got some of his almost a decade ago and still use them. Never have checked to see what he's done lately.
