Simle DV Capture Problem in 9b; Help Requested

I'm capturing DV in AVI format from a VHS tape via a Canopus ADVC-100 through Firewire; this technique has worked fine for me for years. I currently have both Vegas Pro 8 and Pro 9b installed. It works fine using Sony Capture 6 within Vegas Pro 8, but Sony Capture 6 within 9b complains that "An error occurred while capturing from the device. The file is an unsupported format".

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I image there is a setting in 9b capture that is different from the 8 capture settings , but I can't find it. I can't even tell what format Sony expects, and what format it thinks is the "unsupported" one.

Thanks in advance for helping.

I don't know why 9b won't capture, but till you find out why, just capture DV with Vegas 8, Capture 6 - the quality will be identical, and this will be accepted for editing in V9.

Try running VidCap by itself and see what happens.
I have a shortcut to it on my desktop so that I don't have to open Vegas to run it.
C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\vidcap60.exe or
C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\vidcap60.exe

Try Scenalyser first for DV capture. Much better than anything else i used .
http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html

I can't say much about Sony capture utility cause i used it only a couple of times in 8 years...

Thanks; I've just been using the 8 version, but it does worry me that something has come unbolted somewhere in 9b that will cause me grief later on.
