Ever get stuck with having to 'fix' the audio in one of those school concerts, you know the ones, one minute you've got a six year old 10 feet from the mic and next second a disco number hitting 0dB.
So you go through the whole 2 hours of the thing tweaking levels and then sweat it that maybe you've missed something and it's going to get clipped. Well you can render out just the audio and open it in SF and use the Clipped Peak Detection tool but a) You've got to have SF and b) it's one more step and what if all is well anyway.
Simpler trick, open the track compressor, just double click it's icon and leave it open while you render. The input level meter will hold the peak level even after you've finished rendering, if you've clipped, you'll see it there.
This FX can be quite handy just to use the meter even if you don't turn on compression.
Now if only I can work out to have multiple audio FX windows open at once I'd be really happy.
Bob.
