OK... I'm a Photoshop user by nature (sorry but I wanted to get that out)

I wanted to mask 1/2 of a parent (or top layer) video to let the child (or layer below) show through.

I tried to find a simple masking tutorial but couldn't find one. Not even on You Tube. The tutorial videos on YouTube run through things so fast and 'assume' you know the tool.

Anybody know of a GOOD, clear easy to understand tutorial on masking that covers masking an area of the parent video (layer)
