Simulated fog/fog machine

I have a short clip of video where I've got a floating head speaking (it's a long story :-) and I would like to overlay this whole scene with a fog-like effect. Maybe I'll just have to set up a fog machine and some lights and shoot the DV and overlay, but I thought one of the video fiolters in Vegas 4 might get me there. I've been looking but haven't found it yet.

Any suggestions apopreciated.

Try particleillusion found in last month's issue of DIGIT for free. Works great and you should be able to get fog out of it.

Create a new video track overtop of the master shot.

Add a noise texture generated event to the top track, standard noise preset, black set to 0 alpha (black= transparent).

Move, animate, blur, vary opacity as needed.
