Thanks Ian, that's perfect. I just wish it came with a keyboard click sound effect that's in sync with the revealing of each character! But that's greedy.

I have an audio FX somewhere. I'll look for it tomorrow if you still need it but you will find it on the net somewhere.

As per EricLNZ, search online (Google / Bing) using keywords 'free sound effects typewriter' and there will be lots of results. Its then just a matter of searching for one that meets your needs. I did that a few years ago and found one that was more like a constant telex sound because the titling is at a constant 'reveal' pace rather than at a more irregular pace when using a real manual typewriter or even with a 70's era IBM electric typewriter. When doing the edit on the timeline, I needed to make sure that the typrwriter clicks aligned with each new letter that appeared - otherwise the overall effect didn't gel (for me anyway).

Also, if using free SFX, lookout for any licensing issues if your production is for commercial (non-personal use) release.

There are antique typewriter sounds on freesound.org. (including my 'knufds' carriage return and bell which was professionally recorded of course}. Otherwise you can probably find a antique typewriter key sound on there, though you may have audition some to find a 'good' one.

I have an old 1950s non-electric Remington in the attic, I will have to dig it out it out and record a couple of keystrokes. Putting together my anechoic chamber is a PITA though.

Thanks to everyone suggesting sound fx or offering to record them. For my purposes, the sound of a laptop keyboard is more suitable than a typewriter, and I'm sure I can find that or record it myself.

The BBC's S/FX site seems somewhat similar to freesound, you need to wade through lots clips to find a the perfect sound at a reasonable quality. Another good resource though i was not aware of.
