I am guessing you've tried the Reset and uninstall of the software.

I have no understanding of what you posted, but, in Control Panel>Program and Features, is Vegas Pro listed?

Have you tried Revo Uninstaller Free to uninstall Vegas and let it hunt down every instance of it in the registry and folder locations? I have the "Pro" version and use it as a "nuclear option" when I've reached my wits end getting a program to start. Just be careful if you have other versions of Vegas installed, to check the registry entries and folder locations that Revo will come up with to remove.

thank you for your reply. I actually didn't try to uninstall Vegas and do a reset. Four days ago vegas started to not start anymore. i click the icon to start the program and it doesn't start. before that i had already had problems with the full screen preview in play, (after an automatic windows 11 update, exactly KB5052093 which is not listed among the ones that can be deleted).
Now I have this non-boot problem. I'll try to follow your directions. I had vegas 19 before I bought the 22 pro. But I had uninstalled 19....

+11. I have been using Revo for many years and is often recommended by tech support (Magix and elsewhere). As was, stated by @Reyfox, just be careful to not delete 'shared' data if you have other versions of Vegas when using the advanced scan mode.
Revo Uninstall has a pro and freeware versions. The free version is adequate in most cases unless you need to 'forge' uninstall.
