Single Menu with Scene Selection and play button.

Well I'm disappointed you can't use multiple videos in DVD-A and have the play one after the other without going back to the menu. This seems most basic. A simple choice of what to do after playing each video is in every other DVD authoring program I can think of. Now that I'm done complaining, I can figure out how to do a single Menu with Scene selection. Simply put a link to the same video on the menu for each selection with a different starting point. I will then start at that point and play to the end.

But I can't figure out how to make a graphic like a arrow that will link as a play button to start from the beginning and play all the way thru. In other words you would have a play button to just select play or a choice of scene selections all on the same single menu. I can do this easily on all other DVD authoring programs. Am I missing something?

SoFo, I think you missed the boat on not having a after play choice. Using more than one clip is pretty basic stuff.

Have a good day!!

Yes, you can do this. Here's how:

1) Drag in your main video.
2) Create the scene selection menu (select the main video, and use Insert>Scene Selection Menu)
3) Go into the scene selection menu, and copy the scenes you want. Paste them into the menu with the main play item
4) For the main play item: disable the object frame, and set the thumbnail to a graphic of your choice (a play button)

That should do it.

And for now, one way of linking multiple clips together is by using a music compilation (which supports videos as well). It's not a perfect solution, but it may help your project.

1.Thanks for the quick response. Ok I see how to do this now

2.Is there any mention of a patch to allow multiple videos?

3.Can you have menus with Music Compilation? How?

Thanks in Advance

This workaround is no good.
DVDA always renders both the video and the audio. The optimize function does not work with music compilations.

We need a better fix than this, otherwise we will stick with Ulead.

If the video and/or audio are compliant, they will not be re-rendered in a music compilation (even though the Optimize DVD shows that the audio and video will be recompressed). Each song in a music compilation is treated separately (i.e. some may be recompressed and some may not be recompressed depending on whether or not they are compliant). The Optimize DVD dialog doesn't show this much granularity and as such always shows recompress for music compilations.
