Sizzle that doesn't fizzle

Hi all,

I trying to put together a "sizzle reel," highlight clips from many (!) different shoots. My question is how to gather up the many clips I want to use. I spend a lot of time and effort on each clip that I use, trying to max out quality and the vivid color that I like. So, each of the clips that I want to incorporate in the reel, have, at one time been already adjusted. I don't really want to go through the adjustment process of each clip all over again, if I can help it.

How can I gather up the many clips? Do I have to open each of the past projects, and copy and paste the specific clip into the reel? As long as VP14 has been taking to open up each veg file, this sounds like a formidable process. If I don't do copy and paste, possibly render out the specific clip in the original project and save to one folder. Any ideas? Has anyone else gone through the process?

Thanx in advance for your input.

Although I have 'lurked' on this forum over time, this is my first post and I hope it might be of some use to you.

Part of my work involves publishing a large number of short videos on my website and also creating compilation videos using excerpts from certain topic groupings to create an overview. Different raw video, graphics and data is always becoming available so each is always a work in progress and (hopefully) in a process of continuous improvement. This requires a different approach to file management and workflow from the 'do a great edit, put it in the can and move on to the next project' required in, say, DVD publishing.

Anyway, it has some similarities with what you are wanting to do, so here is how I would go about it.

1. With each project try to recognise your hero segment(s) then select those components and save them as a nested project using Vegasaur. This will keep all carefully applied fx intact. If you don't have Vegasaur you can do this manually but it will take somewhat longer.

2. Create a new project and drag in your saved subprojects. Your hero clips will have all their fx in place and you can also add additional compositing effects if you like.

3. You can easily add new hero clips as they become available and any subsequent changes you make to sub-projects will bubble through the next time you render a total project.

I hope that might be of use.

Thank you Video_flaneur. I'm glad you decided to stop lurking and come in from the cold. LOL Though I've had Vegasaur for a long time, I never considered that feature of it until you suggested it. I will explore that possibility. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
