slideshow question

I am creating a dvd project that will have video clips as well as photo images. For multiple photo images with accompanying music what is the easiest way to do this? I don't see info in the instruction manual on how to make a slideshow within a project. Or do i simply drag the photos to the timeline and create crossfades. I would really like to time the photos too so they are all 5 sec with a 1 sec fade between. I read about making a compilation in Architect Studio but didn't know if that applies to what I need.

As you can tell I am very new at this. I am using SVMS 8.0 platinum and DVD Architect Studio 4.5. thank you very much.

I'm undertaking an exact same project at the moment. I did another such like project in the autumn and my method worked:

> go to options > preferences > editing > set the default time for your stills ie 5 seconds. This way when you drag and drop a still it will be set to fill 5 secs. You can still stretch or reduce it.

> add your pictures from explorer into project media. Make certain that your pcis are not huge ie < 500kb otherwise your machine will struggle to preview them fast enough.

> drag and drop each picture into the time line.

> to apply a universal cross fade to all the pictures on the track select the track and check out the manual - it can be done - I've never wanted to do it as I prefer to set up my own crossfades for each picture. Look into the manual - I know it is easy.

If you plan for some music along with the stills it often is a good idea to make the stills change to the rythm of this music.
To do this place the music in a track in the timeline and play it pressing the M(ark) according to mark the beat - mostly you count 1 2 3 4 M 1 2 3 4 M and so on.
Then change the length of inserted stills to fit with the rythm and then insert the stills so that they change at each markerline.
